Every legislative session brings its own set of challenges, but this one has also brought real reasons for encouragement. Across the country, homeschooling families and their allies pushed back against bills that would have handed state agencies sweeping new authority over how families educate their children— and in a number of those fights, proponents of homeschool freedom won decisively.
In Hawaii, nearly 200 parents and children testified before a House committee and sent a bad bill to defeat. In Washington and South Dakota, harmful proposals were stopped before they gained traction. These are meaningful victories.
