We’re strengthening our major gifts program at a pivotal moment—and we’re looking for someone who wants to step into meaningful work from day one.
You’ll work closely with the Director of Development to build and grow a major gifts program. This role is about engaging supporters, contributing to strategy, and helping shape how we invite others into this mission.
This is a full-time position, located on-site in our Purcellville, Virginia office.
What You Will Do
- Build relationships with supporters who are deeply invested in the future of homeschooling
- Engage donors through thoughtful, personal outreach rooted in trust and shared purpose
- Communicate the impact of HSLDA’s advocacy in defending families at the state and federal level
- Support donor conversations and help connect individuals to the broader homeschool freedom movement
- Help develop and grow a major gifts program alongside the Director of Development
What You Will Bring
- A bachelor's degree (preferred)
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust with donors over time
- Experience or comfort with donor outreach, relationship management, and fundraising
- Ability to maintain professional composure, even in emotional or stressful situations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Fluency in Spanish preferred
- Technical competency; proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with Salesforce (or a donor CRM) is a plus
- Ability to function well individually and on a team
- Ability to conduct and analyze research
- An investigative spirit, self-motivation, and a desire to learn in a dynamic environment
- Being a committed Christian who supports HSLDA's mission
- HSLDA requests a minimum two-year commitment
