There are two options for homeschooling in the state of Maine. Depending on the option you choose, you may use one of the forms below to follow the withdrawal procedure of the Maine school your child is currently attending.

Maine Sample Letter of Withdrawal from Public School to Home School

If you are withdrawing from public school during the school year, and you will be home schooling, fill out this letter and mail it "CERTIFIED MAIL/RETURN RECEIPT REQUESTED" to the principal of the public school your child is currently attending.

Maine Sample Letter of Withdrawal from Public School to Enroll in a Recognized as Equivalent Private School (REPS)

If you are withdrawing from public school during the school year, and you will be enrolling in a non-approved private school, fill out this letter and mail it "CERTIFIED MAIL/RETURN RECEIPT REQUESTED" to the principal of the public school your child is currently attending.
