Maine Notice of Intent to Provide Home Instruction

Within 10 days of the beginning of home instruction, send your notice simultaneously to your local S.A.U. (at the appropriate address) and the Maine Commissioner of Education (Department of Education, 23 State House Station, Augusta, ME, 04333-0023). State law requires that you maintain copies of the required notice, annual letters and assessments until the student’s home instruction concludes.

Maine Statement of Intent to Continue Home Education

By September 1 of each following year, you must send a letter to the S.A.U. and Commissioner stating whether you intend to continue home instruction for the child(ren). With both copies, you must include the annual assessment for each student still of compulsory attendance age who is continuing in home instruction. State law requires that you maintain copies of the required notice, annual letters and assessments until the student’s home instruction concludes.
