Jessica is a homeschooling mom of two with a deep desire for her daughters to know and love God.
When she applied for an HSLDA Compassion Curriculum Grant and an HSLDA membership scholarship, Jessica was walking through a painful divorce. She had recently moved in with her parents and was cleaning houses part-time to make ends meet—and she was determined to give her daughters a strong education grounded in faith and love.
In her grant request, she wrote:
We are in our fourth year of homeschooling, and while it has been a huge blessing to watch both of my daughters learn and grow, my heart is heavy for my girls. They are young, so this painful divorce is extremely hard and confusing for them. I desire to honor the Lord with all that I am and disciple my two girls to know Him and love Him.
Thanks to the generosity of HSLDA’s donors, Jessica received the support she needed to continue homeschooling during a difficult season.
“This grant was such an answer to prayer and the biggest blessing to my daughters and me,” she said.
Now, a year later, Jessica has found a new normal. She has her own place, runs her own cleaning business, and continues to homeschool her girls. Although her ex-husband is behind on court-ordered child support, Jessica has found strength in her faith and support from a growing community—including the donors who made her grant possible.
“My girls have been through so much in their short lives and are trying hard to process through the emotions of going through a really chaotic divorce,” Jessica shared. “We have great, biblical counselors that have helped so much. And I cannot tell you how much the HSLDA Compassion Grant means. You are a beautiful testament to the faithfulness of the Lord!”
