Compulsory Education Age
Primary education is compulsory for Emirati children from age 6. Some provision is made for homeschooling from grades 7–12, with Arabic curriculum provided by the government, though certain criteria apply.
Legal Status
Expatriates are able to homeschool freely, as compulsory education laws only apply to citizens of the Emirates. For parents who want to register their child back into a private school after a period of homeschooling, the MoE requires a documentation of two years of school and a letter of transfer. Experience has shown that accreditation obtained through online schools is usually accepted. You can find more information on the Department of Education and Knowledge website.
