S.F. 3439 was introduced on April 25, 2025 by Senator Liz Boldon. It was referred to the Senate Health and Human Services Committee and was heard on March 17. The committee voted to pass it on to the Senate Education Policy Committee.

Summary of S.F. 3439
Under current law, students must provide proof of vaccination to enroll in any school, including a homeschool. As an alternative, parents may submit a medical or conscientious exemption. Homeschooling families provide this information when they begin homeschooling and again in 7th grade.
This bill would remove a parent’s ability to submit a conscientious objection for the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine.
As a result, students without a medical exemption would be required to receive the MMR vaccine to enroll in school, including homeschooling. Families who do not comply could face truancy concerns.
