Education in Saudi Arabia is provided by the government (Al Rawaf and Simmons 1991; Ministry of Education, 2008; Oliver, 1987). However, there is little data on homeschooling in Saudi Arabia. Homeschooling is purported to be mainly limited to foreigners, such as American expatriates. This is probably due to state control in education in the country where the government supplies most of the resources for education at the various levels. The concept of homeschooling is new to the Saudi educational arena, the families in the country might not be willing to homeschool or even lack the needed qualifications due to the recent introduction of modern education.
