H.B. 2717 was passed by the House Education Committee and will now be voted on by the House. Please reach out to your Representative and encourage them to oppose this bill. 

Feb. 13 | Scheduled for a hearing in the House Education Committee

H.B. 2717 was introduced on February 5 by Representative Susan Estes. It was assigned to the House Education Committee. The bill was initially heard on February 12, but it was not voted on, so it has been scheduled for another hearing on February 16.

Summary of H.B. 2717

House Bill 2717 would require 6-year-olds to attend school full time, expanding the state’s control over education and restricting educational flexibility for students.

We believe that parents are in the best position to decide when their child is ready for formal education to start.
