LaNissir James
High School Educational Specialist & Black Outreach Coordinator
LaNissir James is a passionate homeschooling mom of seven, dedicated leader, and advocate for home education. With a deep commitment to serving families, she provides social, spiritual, academic, and supervisory support that empowers parents to educate with confidence from kindergarten through graduation.
In her role at HSLDA, LaNissir works closely with homeschooling families, guiding them through every stage of the high school journey—from planning courses and transcripts to preparing for college, careers, the military, or vocational programs. She also serves as an Outreach Coordinator, connecting with homeschool leaders across the nation and helping communities build vibrant, sustainable homeschool experiences.
With over a decade of hands-on experience, LaNissir leads a homeschool co-op, tutorial, and oversight program for K–12 students. She brings empathy, excellence, and a deep understanding of the unique needs of homeschooling families.
A lifelong learner and certified personality practitioner, LaNissir is both Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and Maxwell DISC certified. For more than 20 years, she has equipped homeschool leaders and parents with tools to improve communication, strengthen relationships, and foster healthy, effective leadership in their homes and communities.
LaNissir earned her B.S. in Journalism from the University of Maryland, College Park, and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Biblical Studies.
Together with her husband, Lorenzo, who serves the homeschooling community through sports programs and photography services, LaNissir is joyfully homeschooling their five girls and two boys. They have successfully launched five of their children to college while continuing to homeschool their high schooler and their youngest elementary student at home.
When she’s not teaching, mentoring, or speaking, LaNissir enjoys reading, traveling, photography, and kayaking.
