Homeschool freedom is being tested like never before. As more families choose to educate at home, officials in some states are responding with intrusive oversight, restrictive legislation, and even unannounced visits.

At the root of this activity is a simple question: Do parents or the state decide what is best for children?

While some argue that parents are inherently suspect and freedom is dangerous, we know that parents are the ones entrusted with raising their children—not the government.

Your gift to the Freedom Fund strengthens HSLDA’s legal team and ensures that when a homeschooling family faces government pressure or hears an unexpected knock at the door, they never face it alone.

In other words, your generosity is advocacy—defending families, protecting parental rights, and securing homeschool freedom nationwide. Throughout the month of December, your impact will be doubled, dollar for dollar.

The Threats Are Real

Across the nation, we're seeing:

  • School officials demanding home visits and access to children
  • Judges questioning parents' religious convictions and educational choices
  • Bills that would criminalize paperwork mistakes
  • Legislation that would force homeschooling parents to use state-approved curriculum
  • Proposals that would mandate vaguely defined "health and wellness" checks for every homeschooling family.

Standing against measures like this—and preserving the freedom of homeschooling families in the process—takes constant research, frequent travel, and rapid responses from our legal team. And in every case, your generosity is advocacy.

Why Give?

Homeschool freedom does not preserve itself. Your gift:

  • Defends families in court at no cost to them
  • Stops harmful laws before they spread
  • Strengthens our legal team to meet a growing demand
  • Ensures parents—not the state—make decisions for their children’s education

When a parent feels the weight of government pressure, your gift says: “You are not alone. Freedom is worth defending.”

Your generosity protects homeschooling families today and preserves homeschool freedom for tomorrow.
