National voices are calling for substantially increased regulation of homeschooling, and state legislatures are listening.

Last year, dangerous bills surfaced in multiple states. This year, the momentum is accelerating.

Your gift to the Freedom Fund strengthens the legal and legislative work required to protect families and preserve the freedom to homeschool.

The Threats Are Real

Opponents of homeschool freedom are not taking a single swing—they are taking are taking a step by step approach, and their end goal is already visible in current proposals.

  • In New Jersey, proposals include forcing families to adopt public school curricula and mandating annual meetings with government officials.
  • In other states, an incremental approach is emerging through increased monitoring, which allows the monitor to set a standard based on their philosophy that all homeschool families must then measure up to.
  • Looking ahead, we could see dangerous bills in 6-10 states this year and 15-20 states the following year if momentum continues unchecked.

This is Not the American Way

These proposals treat rare cases as if they define the norm—assuming parents won't do right unless the government is watching.

But the Supreme Court said:

"The statist notion that governmental power should superseded parental authority...is repugnant to American tradition."

Why Give to the Freedom Fund?

Because participation is decisive. In legislative battles, victory goes to the side that shows up early, consistently, and in force.

Because giving is an essential form of advocacy.

And because homeschool freedom does not preserve itself.

Your gift to the Freedom Fund:

  • Helps families speak up quickly and effectively when dangerous bills appear in their state.
  • Strengthens the partnerships required in every legislative fight, including collaboration with state organizations.
  • Helps us send a clear message to parents under pressure: You are not alone. Freedom is worth defending.

What You Can Do Right Now

  • Commit to speaking up if a dangerous bill comes to your state.
  • Give a special gift to HSLDA's Freedom Fund of any amount.
  • Support your state homeschooling organization because they are essential partners in every legislative battle.
  • Pray for protection and providence.

This is not a time to put our heads in the sand.

We need to speak up.

We need to give.

We need to act.
