You can leave a bequest or estate gift through planned giving to Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) in your will and help us continue to defend and advance homeschool freedom for future generations.

It’s very simple to do: Just a few additional sentences in your will or trust are all that is needed.

You can structure the bequest to

  • leave a specific item or amount of money,
  • make the gift contingent on certain events,
  • or leave a percentage of your estate to HSLDA.

If your estate is subject to tax, your gift is entitled to an estate tax charitable deduction for the gift’s full value.

How to make a charitable bequest

To make a charitable bequest, you need a current will or revocable living trust. Simply add these words:

“I give and bequeath to Home School Legal Defense Association, a non-profit organization in Virginia (currently located at P.O. Box 3000, Purcellville, VA 20134), the sum of {_____ dollars or _____ percent of my residual estate}.” *

* Giving a percentage of your estate rather than a fixed amount allows your gift to remain proportionate no matter how your estate’s value fluctuates over the years—so your family is always taken care of first.

Please contact us if you have any questions or wish to make estate donations that are not listed here.

Thank you for your partnering with us to come alongside families facing legal challenges to their right to homeschool and fight for that right wherever it is threatened. Your generosity provides practical assistance and assures families that they are not alone.

By standing together, we can protect homeschool freedom and make this wonderful learning option possible for more and more children in the years to come.
