Report Card from Parents Nets Auto Insurance Discount
Protect your family.
Do you enjoy saving on car insurance? A frugal HSLDA Idaho member does, so she contacted Farmers Insurance to get a good student discount for her young driver.
Farmers’ website explains that students with average grades of B or higher are eligible. Our member submitted her daughter’s parent-issued transcript to Farmers, assuming her daughter’s 3.25 GPA (a B+ average) was sufficient proof of grades.
However, Farmers quickly rejected the daughter’s transcript and denied the good student discount, saying she was ineligible unless she scored in the top 20 percent on a national standardized test.
Dissatisfied with Farmers’ decision, the family contacted Home School Legal Defense Association for help.
HSLDA’s legal team promptly faxed a letter asking Farmers to reconsider, noting that the rejection was not in line with Farmers’ online policy. Upon receiving the letter, Farmers reversed their decision and granted the good student discount.
We appreciate Farmers’ willingness to reevaluate and avoid discriminating against our member’s educational choices.
