Tips for requesting your student's records
Here are some tips and a sample for requesting your student's records:
- Create a basic school letterhead using the name of your private school
- Sign not as the parent but as the private school director or administrator
- Simply state that you are requesting the cumulative file for the student be sent to you at the provided address
- You may mail this return receipt requested if you wish to be sure the school receives it.
Dear [School registrar or principal],
Please consider this an official request for the cumulative school records for [student's name]. Please mail the records to [school name] at the address listed below:
Thank you for your prompt attention to this request. Please submit any questions in writing.
