Compulsory attendance law: 6-16

Legal status of homeschooling: Homeschooling is legal. Article 44, paragraph 1 of the Federal Law of 29 Dec. 2012 N 273-FZ “On Education in the Russian Federation” states that that parents (guardians) of children have the primary right to educate and raise their children.  Home education is often referred to as “family education.” Many Russian families are currently exercising this right.
