Only one child in Iceland home schooled
Compulsory attendance: 6-16 (Compulsory School Act 2008, Art. 3)
Legal status of homeschooling: Homeschooling is legal. The Compulsory School Act (91/2008) states that a municipality may authorize parents to be exempt from Article 3 in order to teach their children at home, in part or totally (Art. 46). Children who receive home schooling are subject to supervision and regular assessments and examinations. Further details are available in the homeschooling regulations (Icelandic language only).
