Compulsory Education Ages: 6-17

Legal Status: According to Bolivian law, parents have the right to choose to homeschool their children. In practice though homeschooling is very uncommon, especially for nationals.

Article 88 of the Bolivian Constitution states that it is the right of mothers and father to choose the education that is appropriate for their children. The proposed Nueva Ley de La Educacion Boliviana (2006) does emphasize mandatory schooling, although technically in terms of education and not attendance. When interpreting this law, officials may focus on mandatory attendance.
