Dear HSLDA Members,

I want to share with you HSLDA’s recent action on behalf of homeschool families in Kanawha County. This month Kanawha County Schools erroneously informed a homeschool family that completion of a kindergarten program is necessary for a student to be homeschooled as a 1st grader. I have sent a letter to the school district which I am including here. Homeschool parents, not the district, determine what grade their child is in.

As we approach the beginning of the new school year, many districts have begun contacting homeschool families regarding their notifications for the upcoming year. Unfortunately, as you know, districts are not always accurate in their interpretation of homeschool requirements. If Kanawha County questions your homeschool notification, please contact HSLDA so that we can assist you!

“I Saved My Entire Membership Fee with One Discount”

“When I called Liberty to find out what kind of discount we could get, they told us we would save 10% off our car insurance and 5% off our homeowner’s insurance. What we will save is more than double what it costs to join HSLDA. With one child getting his driver’s license this year, the savings will be a real blessing!”
