Dear HSLDA Members and Friends:

Thanks to your efforts throughout the process, three important homeschool bills passed the West Virginia Legislature and now await the governor’s signature. HB 2793, the Homeschool Modernization Law; SB 447, recognition of homeschool diplomas; and HB 2674, eliminating the GED requirements for the Promise Scholarship, unanimously passed through the legislature. We are asking that you contact the governor and request he sign these bills into law.

Action Requested

Please contact Governor Tomblin and ask him to sign HB 2793, SB 447, and HB 2674. You can send the following brief message in your own words:

Dear Governor Tomblin,
Please sign into law HB 2793, SB 447, and HB 2674. Each of these bills unanimously passed the House and Senate. These commonsense bills make helpful changes to homeschool law and give equality to hardworking homeschooled graduates. Thank you for your service to West Virginia families.

Governor Tomblin can be contacted at (304) 558-2000 or here.

For additional information on HB 2793, please visit our bill page.

Thank you for your diligent action throughout this legislative season!

Montani Semper Liberi!

Extreme makeovers are for extreme circumstances...

Most homeschools don’t need an extreme makeover, but there is something to be said for attention to detail and recognition of accomplishments. Watch the media and you’ll soon see that not everyone wants home educators and homeschooling to look good. HSLDA works hard to shed light on the good work of home educators so it’s obvious that we don’t need someone “making-over” our homeschools. Join HSLDA and help us show the world that we’re fine as we are…thank you!
