Come to the 2014 FPEA Special Needs Convention in November!
Dear HSLDA Members and Friends:
The 2014 Florida Parent-Educators Association (FPEA) Special Needs/Struggling Learner Homeschool Conference is just around the corner! This exciting two-day conference will be held November 21-22 at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort in Orlando, Florida.
This conference is specifically for families who are homeschooling, or considering homeschooling, a child with special needs. The goal is to encourage and support your family, or a friend, who has a struggling learner—because every child deserves to learn without boundaries.
Register now online. If you register before November 17 the cost is $49 for FPEA members and $59 for you and your family.
This year’s lineup is full of exciting speakers who will support, guide, and encourage you and your family in your homeschool journey. Steve Demme, with Demme Learning, is the keynote speaker. Steve has been speaking for many years about homeschooling, and he and his wife Sandra have homeschooled all of their children. Other speakers include Faith Berens and Krisa Winn, two of HSLDA’s special needs consultants. As one of HSLDA’s staff attorneys, I will also be there.
Also scheduled to speak are Pat Verbal, the senior manager of curriculum development at Joni and Friends Christian Institute on Disability; Dr. Karen Holinga, a reading specialist and author of the new Spelling You See from Demme Learning; Kathy Kuhl, a veteran homeschooler, author, and consultant; Beth Ellen Nash with Wings to Soar Online Academy where they create custom learning plans for outside-the-box learners; Nick Sabella, an educator, motivational speaker, and youth minister who talks about his personal testimony as a stand-out athlete whose dreams of becoming a professional baseball player came to a screeching halt when he was diagnosed with an illness at 16 that threatened his life; and Cheryl Swope, M.Ed., author of Simply Classical: A Beautiful Education for Any Child and the parent of adopted 19-year-old twins with autism. For more information about these speakers and the workshops click here.
As always, when you come to an FPEA Conference you can take advantage of HSLDA’s special conference discounts! This year’s discounts are:
