Legislative Bill 445: Change Duties of the Commissioner of Education

If passed, LB 445 would require the commissioner of education to institute a statewide system of testing for students. The intent of this bill was for it not to apply to exempt schools (homeschoolers). As written, however, the bill could result in testing being imposed on exempt school students. The Nebraska Christian Home Educators Association (NCHEA) and HSLDA are working with the bill sponsor to clarify that it does not apply to exempt school students.
