House Bill 2274: Petition to Remove Guardian

Summary:

This bill provides that in a petition to remove a guardian of a minor child, the guardian has and must be informed of right to counsel. If a parent whose parental rights have not been terminated objects to appointment of guardian of a minor child, the parent has and must be informed of right to counsel. A parent is to show that impediments to the parent's custody have been removed when petitioning for removal of a guardian. A guardian may establish by clear and convincing evidence that termination would not be in the child's best interests.
