Drop and Refund Policy

Effective for all 2022–23 academic year course enrollments

Requesting to Drop a Course: A parent who wishes to drop a course for a student must make the drop request online via his or her parent account. Once logged in, the parent will find the name of the course to be dropped listed under “Current and previous course enrollments.” To drop a course, click the "Drop/Flex Course” button beside the course name and fill out the drop form.

Refund Eligibility: A parent who requests to drop a student's course will be eligible for a partial refund of course tuition up to the 15th calendar day of the semester when the course begins. After the 15th calendar day, no refunds are available. Tuition is nontransferable between courses and cannot be deferred to a later term.

For any drop requests submitted on or before the semester start date, the registrant will receive a refund of $125 less (per dropped course) than the original tuition amount paid. $125 of the tuition for each course is non-refundable.

For any drop requests submitted from the second day of the semester through the 15th calendar day of the semester, the registrant will receive a 60% refund of the original tuition amount paid.

Please note the drop and refund policy for SAT® Prep Genius and Essay Writing Workshop is different than our normal drop and refund policy listed above.

SAT® Prep Genius Drop and Refund policy: For any drop requests submitted by the 15th calendar day of the course, the registrant will receive a $100 refund. No tuition refunds will be offered after the 15th calendar day of the course.

Essay Writing Workshop Drop and Refund policy: For any drop requests submitted by the 15th calendar day of the course, the registrant will receive a $50 refund. No tuition refunds will be offered after the 15th calendar day of the course.

Drop and Refund Processing: When a student’s drop request is being processed, the student and his or her parent(s) will receive an email confirming that the request has been received, along with a statement of the total amount to be refunded (if applicable). In the event that there is a refund, HSLDA will credit the original purchaser’s credit card account (to refund credit card tuition payments) or send the refund via check to the person who originally purchased the course (to refund check tuition payments). Refunds for credit card tuition paid more than 120 days prior to the refund date cannot be processed via credit and will also be sent via check. Please allow up to 30 days for the payment to be sent or processed.

Course cancellation: In the event that HSLDA Online Academy must cancel a scheduled course, all registered students will receive a full refund of the tuition for that course.

Section cancellation: HSLDA Online Academy strives to keep courses affordable while providing quality, Christian instructors and curriculum. In order to achieve this balance, it is necessary for a minimum number of students to enroll in each individual class section. If the number of enrollments does not reach the minimum for an individual class section, HSLDA Online Academy reserves the right to cancel the section. During those instances, HSLDA Online Academy will make every effort to accommodate impacted students by transferring them to another section of the same course, as closely aligned with their original live class meeting time as is feasible. HSLDA Online Academy communicates these changes via email to students and parents as quickly as is administratively possible.

Student Honor Code

The HSLDA Online Academy honor code represents the standards of the online community every student chooses to join when enrolling in a course. The goal of this Christian community is to bring imperfect people of different backgrounds together to learn and grow in a way that honors God and others.

As an HSLDA Online Academy student, I agree to abide by the following commitments for the duration of the academic year:

  • I will read this year’s Student & Parent Handbook carefully.
  • I will take responsibility for homework deadlines and submissions.
  • I will complete my coursework with Christian integrity. I will not lie, cheat, or plagiarize.
  • I will address Academy instructors and staff with respect and speak respectfully about them to others.
  • I will treat my classmates kindly and respectfully, even when I disagree with them.
  • I will approach conflict and disagreement humbly, seeking resolution in the spirit of Matthew 18.
  • I will speak and write graciously, not using profane, explicit, or offensive language.
  • I will act prudently and will not share inappropriate or explicit material.
  • I am willing to be held accountable to these tenets, as outlined in the Student & Parent Handbook.
