| Online College Network (OCN) is a college prospect identification tool utilized by colleges to access thousands of high school students’ resumes, online, via a password-protected searchable database.
Developed with the assistance of high school and college educators and coaches, OCN was designed to increase the productivity of the college recruitment/admissions process, provide access to a more diverse student population and enhance the yield of outreach programs. In order to ensure equal exposure, regardless of economic status or ethnic background, the OCN program is free to all high school and home school students.
The OCN Process:
High school students enter their contact information, extracurricular activities, hobbies, honors, awards, as well as achievements in academics, the arts and/or athletics into the OCN database via the Internet – beginning their freshman year.
Home school parents, via email, verify each student’s data.
Student resumes are stored in OCN’s secure database and college personnel search the database by specifying demographic, academic and/or athletic criteria. (See the OCN website to review a sample search.)
Search results provide colleges with a list of students that match, or exceed, search criteria. Prospective student resumes can be saved in a customized contact management database in which colleges can also track student interactions.
OCN allows college personnel to:
- Penetrate target markets more efficiently
- Reach students earlier in the process (beginning with freshmen)
- Qualify prospective students (academically, athletically, financially, geographically)
- Monitor student contact
- Build personal relationships
