Parents summoned to juvenile court for alleged truancy

Filed: April 16, 2001, Caddo Parish.

Nature of Case: A new home schooling family received notice from the juvenile court that a complaint had been filed regarding their autistic sixth-grade son. The child's attendance record showed 22 unexcused absences prior to the time the child was withdrawn for home education.

Status: The first appearance was set for April 25, 2001, but the charges were dropped without the necessity of a court appearance.
