New Director of Media Relations Arrives at HSLDA

Robert Ziegler, the most recent addition to the Home School Legal Defense Association staff arrived today to find himself in the busiest season of the year for HSLDA—the beginning of the traditional school year.

"Rob's first day at HSLDA started with several media calls requesting information or interviews for articles or television and radio shows," said HSLDA president, Mike Smith. "He is very skilled in dealing with the media and public relations. We are excited at all he brings to HSLDA on behalf of home schooling," Mike added.

A 1987 graduate from the University of Toledo with a B.A. in Communications, Rob has worked in many areas of communications—from press secretary for Congressman Hostettler (R-IN) and later as a legislative aide, to reporter for daily newspapers in Ohio and Indiana. Rob has also worked as a director of conferences and special projects for a large church in Southern California. Most recently Rob held the position of Legislative Director for Representative Jeff Flake (R-AZ).

"I am very thankful for this great opportunity to be involved in advancing a cause that I hold dear," said Rob.

Rob is replacing Rich Jefferson, the former director of media relations, who is working for the Alliance Defense Fund in Phoenix, Arizona. Rob and his wife Lucille have four children and began home schooling when their oldest reached school age. The Ziegler family lives in Alexandria, Virginia.
