GERMAN AUTHORITIES PERSECUTE CHRISTIAN HOMESCHOOLERS
Purcellville, VA Purcellville VA German authorities in Paderborn, Nordrheinwestfalen are threatening to forcibly remove the children of seven families simply because their parents want to homeschool. "This is a disgrace," said Chris Klicka Senior Counsel for the Home School Legal Defense Association. "A free country must respect the right of parents to educate the children entrusted to them," he added.
Officials at the German Embassy have declared that the policy of the German government is to "counter the rise of parallel societies that are based on religion or motivated by different world views and in integrating minorities into the population as a whole."
The officials in Paderborn are following this policy. Anyone who has a different worldview than the secular German state is under the threat of prosecution. In addition, Rich Guenther, the head of School Instruction at Home, a German homeschool advocacy group, has been fined the equivalent of $1,500 simply for mediating on behalf of the Paderborn families.
"Attempting to strip the families of any representation guarantees that justice will not be served," said Klicka.
Thousands of American homeschool families have complained to the German government regarding the treatment of their fellow homeschoolers.
Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) is a 21 year old, 80,000 member non-profit organization and the preeminent association advocating the legal right of parents to homeschool their children.
