Chuck Hurst
Chuck Hurst came to HSLDA 19 years ago to fill the positions of Membership Director and Office Manager in an office of a dozen employees. Today Chuck continues in his capacity of Membership Director and serves as HSLDA’s Director of Human Resources for a staff of 75. In addition to his HSLDA responsibilities, two years ago his desire to bless homeschoolers led him into the part-time position of executive director for the Home School Foundation. Chuck and his wife Dianne have three children, Jennifer (24), Jackye (22), and Jacob (18).
Chuck is a graduate of Bob Jones University’s School of Education with an emphasis on U.S. history. He met his wife, Dianne, while teaching school and continued teaching from 1979 to 1988. During this time, he received his Master of Arts with a major in social sciences from Governor’s State University, in Illinois. After sensing God’s call to leave teaching and begin homeschooling his children, in 1989 he obtained a paralegal certification from Roosevelt University, located in Chicago. In 2003, he received his certification as a senior professional in human resources from the Human Resource Certification Institute.
