Bringing Homeschool Support @home!

Homeschool conferences are often wellsprings of new ideas, inspiration, and encouragement. But have you ever wished you didn’t have to wait so long for that next burst of inspiration? Or have you missed a workshop at your state conference and wished you had another chance to hear that speaker? Or maybe you’re thinking about taking a get-away weekend to a conference in another state and want to see if the speaker lineup is worth the drive.

HSLDA @home e-vents

Introducing HSLDA’s new @home e-vents program! If you have a computer with an internet connection and speakers or headphones, you can attend a live audio/visual “webinar” in your living room, bedroom, or even your kitchen.

What is It?

“The HSLDA @home e-vents program is designed to equip families to successfully homeschool their children long-term by offering a variety of seminars to people with diverse needs. Our technology helps us make our webinars available to families across the nation, allowing them to interact with popular homeschool speakers and even ask them questions,” says HSLDA President Mike Smith.

Since May, HSLDA has hosted over 60 webinars, featuring over 25 speakers and attended by over 500 families—members and non-members alike. And the results have been great. An HSLDA member from Mississippi wrote, “I am so glad to see you putting out these seminars. What a wonderful resource. These weren’t available when we started homeschooling, but this is such an encouragement, not to mention a great tool to explain homeschooling to relatives and friends who don’t understand it.”

A lifetime member in Florida wrote, “I am so pleased with the information you presented tonight. I sent out an email encouraging my friends who are not HSLDA members to reconsider, checking out the webinars to see the wonderful benefits of your organization.”

How Does It Work?

It’s easy! First, visit the @home e-vents homepage. There, you will find a list of upcoming topics and speakers, ranging from our HSLDA attorneys on legal issues in your state to popular homeschool speakers with creative teaching ideas, curriculum tips, or encouragement. Browse our archives at and view past topics and speakers to get an idea of what to expect.

While you were browsing, did you see a past webinar that looks intriguing? With this program, you can even “go back in time” and catch that e-vent!

If you click on the “Register” button, underneath each webinar description, you can view its status, fee, panelists, duration, and whether the e-vent is open to everyone, or to HSLDA members only. Note: HSLDA members receive discounts in all webinars and get to attend some for free!

Find an upcoming webinar you’d like to attend? Great! Now follow the registration process on your screen. Keep in mind, the number of attendees per workshop is limited, so the sooner you register, the more likely you are to “find a seat.” Once you’re through the registration process, we will email you a link to the log-in page, a registration ID, and an e-vent password. Save this email for the day of the e-vent, and mark the date and time on your calendar.

On the day of your webinar, at least 15 minutes before your workshop is scheduled to begin, use the link in this email to access the log-in page. Getting ideas and encouragement that benefit your family doesn’t have to be a difficult process: just log in with your registration ID and e-vent password, pull up a comfortable chair, and enjoy your session—it’s that easy!
