USA Science and Engineering Festival

Diane Kummer

The USA Science and Engineering Festival will be held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. in April of 2014, and would be an excellent field trip for all of your children grades K – 12! It features 3,000 hands-on science exhibits, workshops and performances, and sponsors of the event have specifically extended invitations to homeschoolers to attend.

Thursday, April 24, will feature presentations by respected professionals in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) areas. Your children will have the opportunity to interact with STEM leaders while attending sessions covering space exploration, storm chasing, oceanography, the physics of superheroes, music technology, and mathematical puzzles.  Tickets are $15 per person for K-12 Students, educators and parents, and you may select topics from over 60 speakers which best fit your students’ interest. View the X-STEM Symposium agenda, register, and find more information on the USA Science and Engineering Festival website.

On Friday, April 25, a free event will be offered that allows students to preview the EXPO exhibits before they open to the general public at the Grand Finale Expo on Saturday and Sunday. The festival organizers specifically hope homeschoolers will attend this event. However, this is a limited attendance event, so it is crucial that you and your family RSVP before all seats are sold out. More details and registration info is available here.
