Two Events for Families who Homeschool Children with Special Needs

Krisa Winn

We want to take this opportunity to tell you about two opportunities designed to encourage and equip families who are homeschooling children with special needs.

First up is JoyQuest Struggling Learner Conference taking place in Indianapolis, IN, on October 5, 2013

What began as a personal quest for Ron and Vicky Broadfield to meet the needs of their own daughter, has now grown into a ministry, JoyQuest. The Broadfields desire to serve and come along side parents of struggling learners and special needs children to offer faith-based support as they nurture and instruct their children with a focus on educational challenges.

This year’s key note speaker is Carol Barnier. Past speakers have included Andrew Pudewa, Dianne Craft, and Sharon Hensley.  Our very own HSLDA Special Needs Consultant, Faith Berens, will be presenting two workshops, as well.

For further information and to register, please visit their website.

Next, is the FPEA Struggling Learner’s Conference in Orlando, FL, on November 22-23, 2013.

This conference is co-sponsored by FPEA and HSLDA.  It is a national conference designed for families who are homeschooling children with special needs.  HSLDA’s co-founder, Mike Smith will present the keynote address. TJ Schmidt, Faith Berens and I will be there too, presenting workshops that will encourage and inform.  There are events scheduled, including a golf tournament, as well as many other wonderful speakers and exhibitors.

For more information and to register, click here.  By the way, FPEA and HSLDA members receive a discount on registration. It's a great deal, and looks to be a great conference.  We hope that you will make plans to join us in Orlando!

Many Blessings,
