Although I'm very grateful that our area was spared in terms of power outages and major damage, my heart goes out to those of you who were/are heavily effected by the storm, especially areas of New Jersey and New York. It's hard to fathom the fierceness of the storm & the devastation that many are facing due to this hurricane.
Some areas of Maryland along the Eastern Shore were hit extremely hard, too. It makes me thankful for organizations like Samaritan's Purse and other excellent relief ministries.
Last night, in this area, wind gusts were around 60 miles per hour with flooding in some places. Today, the rain continues. Windy...an indoor day...
Other than physically trying to help people in some tangible way, we can continue to pray for those who have been impacted by the hurricane. I'd like to share with you what I jotted in my journal this morning...
Grateful to God --
We call upon Your name --- praising You for Your sovereignty, Your goodness and Your mercy in our lives. We humbly ask You to please help those who have been effected by the hurricane yesterday. Please help the families, individuals, relief workers, churches and communities as they help one another to rebuild. We thank You that many regions were spared, & pray that this would cause people everywhere to look to You for salvation.
Thank You for watching over us. We come to you for help, for we need You every moment. We cry out to You, O Lord -- both in times of distress and in times of happiness. We are looking to You and are completely dependent upon You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
May the Lord bless you & keep you today. Talk to you soon....
lots of love,
