Derek Carter is the president of Foundations for Family Success, a ministry that serves today's fast-paced families. Foundations for Family Success conducts practical workshops and seminars on marriage, parenting, and families. In addition, Derek does biblical counseling. Derek has worked with families in crisis for over 25 years. He has a BA in urban studies and an MS in urban policy and administration.
Derek is the author of Having a Presence in Your Absence and is active in the Long Island, Greater New York City homeschool community and his local church and community. He has been joyfully married for 24 years to the only love of his life, his bride Cheryl. They have three children, two of whom are homeschool graduates.
Derek has a vision to see all men rise to be like Christ in their homes: "just like we want to be like Christ, our children should want to be like us.” He has a burden to reach fathers so they can reach their children and regularly speaks on marriage, parenting, and homeschool issues.
The Supportive Homeschool Dad—How to Have a Presence in Your Absence

Based on his own experience, Derek Carter shares steps you can take to stay involved in raising your children even when absence is unavoidable. Derek will focus on the practical, biblical, and tangible ways busy or traveling dads can take an active role in homeschooling their kids.
