Our Speakers
HSLDA’s @home e•vents program showcases speakers who are experts in their fields and often leaders in the homeschool community. Past e•vents have included presentations by well-known authors and speakers, such as Andrew Pudewa, Lou Priolo, Dr. Jay Wile, Jeff Myers, and Hal and Melanie Young, as well as experienced homeschooling parents and homeschool graduates. HSLDA staff speakers have included President J. Michael Smith, Chairman Michael P. Erin Brown Conroy
A professional writer who has taught composition and research for the Patrick Henry College Distance Learning program since 2007. The course developer for PHC Prep English Literature and Composition, Erin Brown Conroy, MA, has authored many books, including her latest, Simplified Writing 101: Tips, Tricks, and Requisites for College Success. Prior to teaching for PHC, Professor Brown Conroy taught research and composition for nine years with Cornerstone University’s Professional and Graduate Studies Division. Professor Brown Conroy is a member of the Society for Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, the American Christian Fiction Writers Association, and Romance Writers of America. She is also a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors and speaks nationally regarding parenting, homeschooling, and women’s health (see www.erinbrownconroy.com .)
Professor Brown Conroy’s Complete Mastery Reading and Spelling Program—a multisensory reading program for children—has been in development since 1996 and is currently being prepared for publication. For many years, Professor Brown Conroy served as a coach to families, counseling for child behavior management and close family relationships. Professor Brown Conroy and her husband, Shawn, are parents of 13 children and live in Michigan, where they homeschool their five children still living at home.
