E. B. v. Dept. of Human ServicesBenefits denied on question of valid enrollment Filed: May 7, 2004 Nature of Case: HSLDA is assisting a single mother in San Francisco in obtaining government cash aid for her homeschooled 16-year-old son. The Department of Human Services is questioning whether her son is in compliance with the compulsory attendance law since he is enrolled in a private Independent Study Program located in Fresno. Status: On February 8, 2005, the ALJ handed down a decision in our favor, stating that “San Francisco County improperly proposed to decrease the claimant’s CalWORKs cash aid
on the basis that her son was not regularly attending school.” Last Updated: July 2005 |
