But ultimately, everyone is in the crosshairs." - Michael Farris
For the July 12 hearing on the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations called in witnesses who were experts on domestic disability law (or simply cheerleaders for the treaty). The only expert testimony on international law was from the two witnesses who oppose the treaty. The Committee went ahead and sent the treaty to the full Senate for ratification on July 26—and it could be ratified at any time.
Supporters of the treaty are missing the difference between national and international law—they fail to recognize that not only will the UNCRPD affect U.S. law, but it will actually subject our sovereign nation to international law. That is not a difference Americans can afford to miss.
Their aim is to “help” children with special needs. But everyone is ultimately in their crosshairs.
